Solar Eclipse Time

This eclipse is the one of four Solar eclipses in a short-lived series at the ascending node of the Sun's orbit. The Solar year series repeats after 12 lunations or 354 days (Shifting back about 10 days in sequential years). Because of the date shift, the Earth's shadow will be about 11 degrees west in sequential events.

A penumbral Solar eclipse will take place on March 23, 2017, the first of three Solar eclipses in 2017. Every year, there are at least two Solar eclipses and as many as five, although total Solar eclipses are significantly less common. If one knows the date and time of an eclipse, it is possible to predict the occurrence of other eclipses using an eclipse cycle like the saros.
